Forestry England is the largest provider of outdoor recreation in the country. Caring for the nation’s forests for people, nature, and the economy via six Forest Districts with Thetford Forest located in East England.

Thetford Forest is the UK’s largest man-made lowland forest. Producing sustainable timber, safeguarding historic features, and providing some of the country’s most important environments and habitats.

Alongside this work, Forestry England provide a wide range of formal and informal recreation and forest access facilities across these areas.

A key aim for Recreation within Thetford Forest is to provide opportunities for the public to have access and engage with the forest, telling our story and bringing the important work that Forestry England undertake to everyday users, while also growing and diversifying the business in an appropriate and sustainable way.

This exciting new role to join an experienced team will support the Recreation Manager, beat colleagues, volunteer partners and stakeholders with the management of the wider forest and help maximise the value of the Nation’s Forests in terms of their benefit to local people and visitors.

Our forests should be safe, welcoming, and enjoyable destinations, providing all the opportunities for greater physical and mental health that outstanding green spaces can offer.

The role will cover the North and West areas of Thetford Forest which will include the sites Lynford Arboretum, Lynford Water and Lynford Stag, Shouldham Woods, High Ash and Bacton in North Norfolk.
