Salary – £26,000 - £28,000 depending on experience
Currently we are seeking to recruit permanent, full-time Field Ornithologists. Immediate start available for suitable candidates.
The role involves undertaking a variety of ornithological surveys to support the delivery of renewable energy, energy transmission and built development projects across Scotland and the UK. These posts will be based in Scotland and are field positions with limited office time.
Applicants will be experienced birders and will ideally have carried out bird surveys such as Vantage Points Watches, Breeding Bird Surveys and Raptor Surveys. However, it is far more important to display a sound knowledge of birds and possess excellent ID skills, as training in survey methods will be given.
You will be physically fit, have an enthusiasm for working outdoors, with a willingness to survey in all months of the year, and in inclement weather. You must also have a willingness to work antisocial hours, particularly during the spring and summer months, and the ability to work collaboratively and positively with a small team of colleagues, often for extended periods away from home. A full UK driving licence will be required.
Flexibility, enthusiasm and initiative are essential qualities we need the applicants to have.
We offer a competitive salary and other benefits including 30 days annual leave, a bonus scheme and pension scheme.
