What it's like to work here
Borrowdale was the first land purchased by the National Trust founders in 1902 in the Lake District. Many beautiful and iconic places are in Borrowdale, such as Derwentwater; Castlerigg (stone circle as old or older than Stonehenge); Watendlath, a hanging valley of such beauty that Walpole based the Herries Chronicle novels here; and Seathwaite, the wettest place in England and also where visitors can ascend Scafell Pike.
