Our Common Cause: Project Officer: Lake District

Salary Pro Rata of £27,700 to £31,000. 0.8 FTE. FTC until 1/6/2024.
Based in the Lake District, (Kendal or Ambleside, home based during Covid),

The Foundation for Common Land, National Trust, the Lake District National Park Authority and a broader partnership will deliver better outcomes for upland commons and those who look after them.

This is an opening to make a difference to one of England's most iconic upland landscapes. Thanks to National Lottery Heritage Fund funding of £3million, Our Common Cause project will conserve and enhance the heritage of Commons in uplands in England. We have already recruited great project officers in Dartmoor, the Yorkshire Dales and Shropshire Hills, we are looking for an officer in the Lake District to complete the team.

• Partnership Working - Our Common Cause is a coalition of 24 organisations from the farming, conservation, public and private sectors. This post is about working together.
• Our project is to make a lasting difference locally through Community Engagement to ensure everyone involved in their management has the skills and knowledge they need to sustainably manage commons now and in the future.
• This is about Farming, Nature and Cultural Heritage, key components are understanding, empathy with farming, conservation and people.

Do you have Project Management skills? Confident managing projects as varied as restoring upland peatbogs, overseeing vets delivering better health outcomes for upland sheep flocks, or organising training programmes and public events.

You will be employed by the National Trust on secondment to the Foundation for Common Land.
