You will contribute to the effective management of protected areas (SSSIs, SACs & SPAs) within the Strathclyde and Ayrshire (S&A) Area and across Area boundaries as required. The focus of the role will be on securing the benefits of nature, specifically through the positive management of protected areas.
You will be part of a small team within S&A focused on the management and monitoring of protected areas, and aiming to secure their favourable condition. In so doing, we will aim to maximise their contribution to wider biodiversity benefits, climate change mitigation, and social benefits including health and wellbeing. This work will require a high level of collaboration with internal and external partners, including contribution to delivery of the government’s agri-environment scheme, NatureScot’s Peatland Action programme, and the provision of advice on development and forestry proposals affecting protected areas.
