North Pembrokeshire, Wales

We’re looking for a Ranger to join our team in North Pembrokeshire.

What you’ll be doing:

We are looking for an individual with strong practical skills to complement our existing team of three Area Rangers and one ranger. You will play a key role in plans to deliver nature-rich, productive landscapes which are good for both wildlife and farming. You will work closely with the Area Rangers and will be a go-to person for practical tasks, which you’ll deliver as part of the agreed work programme. You will also assist the livestock ranger in the day to day animal husbandry of our own cattle and ponies which are used for conservation grazing throughout North Pembrokeshire. You’ll also supervise and work with Full Time Volunteers and weekly volunteers, teaching them new skills and helping them to perform at their best. Occasionally you will also assist with the setting up and running of property events.

This post holder will be required to take part on a roster to provide evening and weekend Ranger cover for the countryside and holiday cottages in the property and to check livestock. The role will require some weekend, bank holidays and evenings working.

To deliver this role successfully, you will need to have:

  • Significant practical experience of countryside/rural skills including estate maintenance, such as fencing, gate hanging, footpath maintenance, etc.
  • Competent with machinery and equipment such as tractors, loaders, ATV and trailer and competence certificates as required by the property.
  • Practical experience in relevant farm and livestock management
  • A passion for wildlife, heritage, the outdoors and a demonstrable interest in nature conservation
  • An enthusiasm and willingness to learn
