One based at our District office in Lyndhurst and the other post at either Lyndhurst or Farnham
Forestry England is the largest land manager and custodian of the nation’s public forests. We have around 1,000 committed staff looking after more land and more trees than any other organisation. It’s a job that never stops growing.
We are looking for an experienced Ecologist to provide specialist ecological advice and guidance to our forestry teams. One post focussing on the east of the District (covering parts of Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex) which is a temporary role with the possibility of being made permanent. The other is in the west of the District (covering New Forest, Dorset and Isle of Wight), which is a new permanent role. Using your proven knowledge of nature conservation legislation, you’ll lead on the protection and enhancement of biodiversity in our forests and open habitats.
A self-motivated individual, you’ll have at least 5 years of working in environmental management and previous knowledge of writing and delivering SSSI plans. You’ll also be a confident communicator, with experience of working with a range of different stakeholders and conservation organisations.
This is an exciting time to join the South Forest District as we look to secure and grow our economic, social and natural capital of our forests. In return, we offer an attractive salary and benefits package including generous annual leave and a government pension scheme. We also provide a range of training and learning opportunities to help you develop your skills.
