Summary

We’re looking for a highly motivated person to join our established park team of 3, reporting directly to the area ranger, delivering conservation work on this truly unique site.

As a busy property, Dyrham Park has a mansion with an internationally significant collection, a historic deer park, veteran champion trees, enriching visitor activities and experiences.

Together we will look after this beautiful site for conservation and visitor access. The park team is made of specialist staff and volunteers who are passionate about the conservation of nature and the parkland. The park team is one department in a complex site, all working to deliver great conservation through a culture of collaboration and co-operation.

What you'll be doing

You'll carry out conservation and infrastructure maintenance tasks in different areas of the parkland and lead a team of volunteers to do so, you will be responsible for raising presentation standards, ensuring health & safety compliance, maintaining the equipment and infrastructure. You'll be working in collaboration with Visitor Experience, Visitor Welcome and Facilities teams to create the best experience of the parkland.

You will work part of a wider Outdoor team of the park deer manager and gardeners, supporting each other to ensure we respond to outdoor issues and work a 7-day rota which includes working 1 weekend in 4.

You’ll need to;

  • Deliver practical conservation work to protect and improve the conservation status of the property
  • Demonstrate a passion for nature, heritage and the outdoors
  • Able to engage with visitors to ensure they understand the value of your work
  • Help create a great place to work, sharing common goals as a team
  • Be enthusiastic with a willingness to learn
  • Be able to work safely, with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures
  • Experience in a land, access and conservation management
  • Competence with machinery and equipment as well as having the relevant certificates required, and a full UK driving licence
