This is a Fixed-Term, Part-Time role for 22.5 hours per week for a period of 18 months.
The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
What's the role about?
The nursery at Naddle Farm is a vital part of the Haweswater operation, producing a wide range of native species that have been grown from seeds and cuttings sourced from the local area.
Supporting the Tree Nursery Officer, and working alongside other site staff and volunteers, the Tree Nursery Assistant will involve giving the nursery’s plants the best possible start in life, weeding, watering, potting up and processing them in readiness for planting back out in the wider landscape. The role will also help with seed collection and planting out, and with occasional other estate management tasks.
This will be a predominantly hand’s-on, outdoor role, so we’re looking for someone who is hard working, happy in all weathers and has experience and knowledge of horticulture and plant propagation.
