The Urban Heaths Partnership (UHP) has an opportunity for someone to join the team in a part time role to support visitor monitoring across the Dorset Heaths.
UHP is a partnership hosted by Dorset Council, made up of 10 organisations including local authorities, nature conservation organisations, the police and fire services and works to mitigate pressures from further urban development upon heathland sites across south east Dorset.
The Monitoring Warden will work with the Monitoring Officer within the small multi-disciplined team, working across the partnership area organising collection and collation of a number of heathland site visitor data sets. These include amongst others collecting and collating data from remote people counting sensors, site visitor surveys, car park transects, recording of incidents occurring on heathland sites on a GIS based database to allow continuous assessment.
The person appointed will have a recognised qualification in ecology, countryside management or experience in a similar role. Experience in visitor data collection or analysis is desirable. The ability to work individually and as part of a team, good communication skills and the ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the post are essential.
