If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Walsall Council as a Community Woodland and Rewilding Officer.

Walsall is a vibrant town with a wealth of green spaces and diverse urban forests. As the Community Woodland and Rewilding Officer, your main focus will be to work collaboratively with local landowners, farmers, and community organizations to identify suitable locations for tree planting and rewilding initiatives. By creating new woodlands and restoring natural habitats, you will play a vital role in enriching our local environment and creating a greener, more sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with local landowners, farmers, and community organisations to identify potential sites for tree planting and rewilding projects.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, providing guidance and support throughout the project.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine the suitability of locations for woodland creation and habitat restoration.
  • Engage and educate the local community about the benefits of woodland creation and rewilding, promoting volunteer participation and community involvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the council and external partners to secure funding and resources for projects.

   
Requirements:

  • A strong passion for environmental conservation, woodlands, and rewilding.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management, preferably in the field of environmental conservation or land management.
  • Knowledge of woodland creation techniques, habitat restoration, and biodiversity conservation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
