Do you love wildlife and working outdoors? Are you practically minded and want to learn new skills? Have you thought about a career in nature conservation? 

As part of the Keeping it Wild and Great North Wood projects, we are offering x7 paid traineeships for young people aged 16-25. Keeping it Wild trainees will be based at multiple London Wildlife Trust nature reserves across the capital, whilst Great North Wood trainees will primarily be based across Great North Wood sites in south London.

Dates: x7 full time 4-month placements starting on Monday 5th September 2022

Bursary: Tax-free training bursary of £6,076 for four months (paid in four instalments, £1,519 per month)

Background:

The traineeships offer a unique opportunity for young people aged between 16-25 to undertake a full-time, paid, four-month vocational traineeship based at London Wildlife Trust nature reserves, where you'll spend time working with the London Wildlife Trust team, learning valuable practical skills in urban nature conservation, community engagement and communications.

Trainees will develop a broad range of skills required in the conservation sector:

• Practical conservation & nature reserve management
• Surveying and monitoring (seasonally dependent)
• Community engagement and environmental education
• Work readiness, CV and job application training

Our Ideal trainee will have the following key attributes:

• You are self-motivated, able to use your initiative and work independently;
• You have an interest in nature/wildlife/conservation and ambition to pursue a career in the environmental sector;
• You have an interest and enthusiasm for practical work outdoors (in all weathers!)
• You are a team player with good communication skills (both written and verbal);
• You are based in London, able to travel to locations across London where training is taking place and you are willing to work from home where required.
