Nature & Communities Project Lead

Planning and delivery of our Rural Skills Training Programme, the development of Coldharbour Mill’s outdoor spaces, wildlife and waterways.

We are looking for a Project Lead who will plan and deliver our Rural Skills Training Programme, develop of Coldharbour Mill’s outdoor spaces including our wildlife and waterways.

The project aims to place the environment at the core of our work and will develop Coldharbour Mill’s outdoor spaces for the betterment of our visitors, community and the environment. The overarching project will see our outdoor spaces become amenities for the community as well as offsetting our carbon footprint and restoring the balance between industry and the natural environment. It will develop wildlife, creating habitat and sustaining the freshwater ecosystem though management of the land and waterways alongside the development and delivery of our Rural Skills Training Programme encouraging more participants to get involved in the project, learn new skills, socialise and explore their passion for nature and countryside skills.

Some key outcomes for the project:

  • A range of participatory events, activities and initiatives, as well as increased participation from schools, special interest groups
  • Management of our Rural Skills Training Programme.
  • Strengthening of partnerships with other organisations such as wildlife trusts and environment agency to support the ongoing project
  • An increased, dedicated volunteer team with the resources and support to increase the productivity of project tasks
  • Progression towards Coldharbour Mill’s aim of Carbon Neutrality by 2030
  • Development of the UK’s first outdoor industrial sculpture trail

Can be offered as Initial 12-month contract or on a consultancy basis. 2 days a week onsite (Thursdays and one other weekday). UP TO £250 per day (inc. VAT & Travel Costs). Possibility of extension subject to further funding

Currently funded by Devon County Council’s Natural Capital Challenge Fund.

Candidates must have:

  • Relevant experience of delivering a similar size project
  • Sufficient capacity to deliver the project
  • Ability to work within the timescales of the project
