Oxfordshire’s countryside is a hugely valuable resource and we’re looking for an experienced countryside access professional to lead the discipline for the authority.
About the role
This is a challenging, varied but rewarding role. If you are committed to the positive benefits of access to the outdoors as well as promoting sustainable and responsible use of the public rights of way network, we’d like to hear from you. You will lead a team of PRoW officers and be responsible for all elements of team management including performance monitoring against targets to ensure investment is cost effective through both capital & revenue funding streams.
You will be a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate advocate for countryside access; a professional who understands the importance of the public rights of way network and has established technical and legal knowledge with a proven record of achievement. Not afraid to experiment and develop new initiatives in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders including voluntary & special interest groups.
The role requires excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the aim of providing a modern & responsive service delivering good quality access to the countryside for the county’s residents and visitors across the 2600-mile public rights of way network.
We are looking for someone keen to develop their career in this area, perhaps taking on the role of team leader for the first time but with the ambition & ability to make a difference and lead by example.
Rewards and benefits
We are proud of our strong flexible working culture, including the opportunity for flexibility on working hours and the use of technology to support agile working. We offer some of the very best learning and development opportunities to support your ongoing development.
We have a generous holiday allowance which rises as you remain in employment with us up to 32 days, as well as giving you the option to buy additional holiday. You will also have access to a Local Government Pension Scheme with employer contributions of up to 19.9% of your salary; a range of local and national retail discounts; and a host of enhanced family friendly policies including carers leave and paid time off for volunteering.
