An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Newbattle Abbey College as our Community Woodland Ranger. The college is set within an historic 16th century building and 125 acres of ancient woodland and parkland. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to help manage and develop this woodland for college and community use, working in partnership with the Forest College Co-ordinator, who is responsible for the Forest College Programme.
The successful candidate will manage the maintenance of Lord Ancrum's Wood, all aspects of health and safety and support the delivery of outdoor programmes for people of all ages. We are looking for a qualified candidate who has the ability to develop partnerships with local communities, including schools, community groups and volunteers, particularly in areas of deprivation.
Experience of working in an outdoor recreation or woodland environment is essential. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary to engage with a diverse range of audiences.
