Permanent - 18.75 hours a week - £12,038 pa.

As an Area Ranger in the West Cornwall team, your main focus will be working across the property area, managing several Countryside Stewardship funded schemes, to deliver our ambitious plans to restore a healthier, more beautiful, natural environment and doing all we can to halt species decline. You will be organising and implementing the required work with the assistance of rangers, volunteers and contractors to ensure the opportunities for wildlife are fully maximised and the strict scheme prescriptions are met. Alongside this work, you will be expected to manage other small projects when required and help implement the team’s practical workload, delivering excellent standards of presentation and property maintenance.

Skills/experience

  • Have practical experience of countryside/rural skills with competence certificates for machinery and equipment
  • Have evidence of good people management and leadership
  • Have experience of leading and working with volunteers
  • Have excellent communication skills including public presentation
  • Have strong organisational skills including work programming
  • Be able to manage contractors and small projects, including budgets
  • Have a proven track record of managing and leading on health and safety and environmental compliance
  • Have a full UK Driving licence with the relevant categories to drive with trailers
  • Diploma/NVQ3 or higher in countryside or environmental conservation
  • Have good wildlife identification skills
