About Us

We are the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, an organisation that protects, enhances and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales. Set against expansive heather moorland tops, each valley has its own distinct charm, from crags and pavements to an underground labyrinth of caves.

This summer we will be launching a new three-year Defra funded Farming in Protected Landscapes programme which will provide grants to farmers and land managers looking to deliver on climate, nature, access and landscape outcomes.

We're currently looking for two Farming in Protected Landscapes Officers to join our Farm Conservation Team, on a three-year fixed term basis. The roles are full-time, one will be based at our Bainbridge office and the other can be based at either our Bainbridge office or our Grassington office.

The Roles

These roles will be integral to the successful delivery of the new Defra funded programme within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and will include:

  • Acting as first points of contact for the programme;
  • Helping to develop project ideas with farmers and land managers
  • Assessing applications;
  • Providing recommendations to the Local Assessment Panels; and
  • Providing monitoring and feedback on the progress of the scheme to Defra.

About You

You should be experienced in agri-environment advice delivery, articulate, pragmatic, with an in-depth understanding of upland farming and land management, preferably within a protected landscape. Experience of farmer group facilitation would be an advantage, as is delivery of access and engagement type projects.

You will be efficient with an excellent attention to detail, able to work to tight deadlines and have excellent report writing and presentation skills.
