We’re looking for new Tree Inspectors to join our Trees and Woodlands team within Derbyshire County Council’s Countryside Service.

You will be part of a team of 4 inspectors with responsibility for surveying highway and Countryside estate trees across Derbyshire. You will play a key role in highway safety, implementing the Council’s response to Ash Dieback and in the management of the wider woodland estate.

In this role you will:

  • Carrying out routine and reactive tree surveys across the County Council’s highway network, public rights of way, country parks and wider county estate, including summer ash dieback surveys. All findings, maintenance requirements and priorities for works will be recorded electronically using asset management software.
  • Responding to and resolving enquiries from members of the public, Councillors and other parties on a wide variety of tree-related issues within specified timeframes.
  • Providing support to defend third party insurance claims involving council-maintained trees by collecting and interpreting information received and providing detailed and accurate information to support Countryside, Highways and Insurance colleagues.
  • Assisting Countryside and Highway colleagues with site monitoring to ensure completion of tree works within agreed timescales and reporting on all cases of non-compliance.

This list is not exhaustive, please do take a look at our comprehensive job profile for more detail.

  • Generous local government pension scheme
  • Guaranteed incremental annual pay increases
  • Cycle to work scheme
