We’re looking for a Technical Assistant to join our Trees and Woodlands team within Derbyshire County Council’s Countryside Service.

This key role provides technical and administrative support to the Trees and Woodlands team, undertaking land registry searches, preparing maps and letters, collecting performance and mapping data and responding to requests for information and queries from the public.

In this role you will:

  • You will play a vital supporting role within the tree and woodlands team as a key contact for ash dieback related enquiries.
  • Carry out land registry searches, liaise directly with landowners, members of the public and council officers on tree-related matters.
  • Issue advisory and enforcement letters to landowners when diseased trees pose a threat to public safety and maintain accurate records when works are completed.
  • Book tree-related enquiries into the councils CRM system.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, community events, communications and publicity
  • Additional duties will also include assisting countryside and woodland officers with data management, GIS projects and plan production.

Our Woodlands team is contractually based in Matlock, Derbyshire, but as part of our Modern Ways of Working programme we are currently working on a hybrid basis. There'll be an opportunity to discuss future working arrangements at interview.
