We are looking for a passionate, driven individual to be part of our gardening team.

As a hands-on Gardener, you’ll assist in making sure that the gardens are maintained to a high standard.

What you’ll be doing

This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, enhance and conserve the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects. You'll be helping with hard and soft landscaping and general maintenance of the garden, such as mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding.

You’ll also support garden volunteers and help them to make the most of their time here alongside experienced and supportive colleagues from the garden and ranger team to maintain a high level of seasonal presentation, particularly in the Walled Garden at Hare Hill and the Knot Garden at Little Moreton Hall.

We are pleased to be able to offer a range of training opportunities within the gardens, and you will have input into plans and future projects allowing you to springboard your career with the National Trust.

Internal training is available at all levels of your career with the trust, and where required external courses are also available to support your work in our gardens.

This job is part time and is 33.75 hours per week.

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the below:

  • Trained as a professional gardener/horticulturalist with a good level of practical experience.
  • RHS Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Have proven practical gardening/horticulture experience, as well as a strong knowledge of plants
  • Confidence to participate in garden activities and events
  • Competence with machinery/equipment use and maintenance; including tractors, chainsaws, and pedestrian mowers with accreditation as required for Health and Safety compliance.
