Purpose of the role
Due to an increase in the scale of Yorkshire Water’s environmental commitments, we have an exciting new role to help drive forwards the implementation of biosecurity throughout Yorkshire Water operations. This will ensure resilience of our assets and the wider Yorkshire environment to invasive non-native species (INNS).
Your primary focus will be the integration of biosecurity across the business through internal operations, processes and planning. This role will help to build operational resilience against INNS which can have financial, legal and reputational complications. The role will involve collaboration with a diverse range of operational teams and contractors to ensure biosecurity is well understood and implemented. You will need a good understanding of theoretical and practical biosecurity measures, strong communication skills and a passion and perseverance to drive change. This role will also contribute towards Yorkshire Water’s Biosecurity Performance Commitment.
In this role you will work across Yorkshire with external partners to drive forward catchment wide biosecurity and invasive species management. You will be responsible for leading our partnership work with the Yorkshire Invasive Species Forum (YISF) and representing Yorkshire Water on regional steering groups and at national events and conferences. You will be expected to oversee the management of INNS on our operational and riparian assets to complement catchment wide treatment programmes and meet legal obligations.
You will help analyse and manage our spatial ecological data. You will also assist in responding to ecological queries from the wider business.
Depending on your skills and passion, there is the opportunity to become involved with other programmes within the wider clean water and catchments team.
