SALARY: £20,600 - £22,000 per annum

BASIS: Full time, Permanent

SECTION: Communities (West Yorkshire)

LOCATION: To work across all three countryside park sites under Groundwork’s management (Fryston Trails, Frickley and Rabbit Ings Country Parks)

REPORTING TO: Senior Countryside Ranger (West Yorkshire)

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Outside contractors, consultants and volunteers

HOURS/HOLIDAYS:

  • 37 hours per week
  • 25 days annual leave per annum plus bank holidays
  • Flexi/TOIL system in operation

   
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:

  • The post will involve evening and weekend work, as required, in relation to events and activities etc.
  • DBS check required

   
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST

37 hours per week (Mon – Fri)

Fryston Trails, Rabbit Ings & Frickley Country Park, Wakefield & Barnsley Districts

Groundwork Yorkshire are looking for an enthusiastic person to join their small team of countryside rangers. The post holder will demonstrate an eagerness for and knowledge of the natural world, be comfortable planning and delivering community activities, and working with schools. You will need to be confident, innovative, motivated and self-reliant. Practical site and habitat management are part of this role.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience, and cover every aspect of open space management, community liaison, environmental interpretation and amenity.

A driver’s licence is essential, prior experience or a relevant degree or equivalent in an environmental subject is essential.
