Northumberland Wildlife Trust

Wilder Northumberland Development Officer

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic person to join our team, working within the Central Conservation team at the Gosforth Headquarters.

This is a new role and project for Northumberland Wildlife Trust, co-created with funding partners. New scenarios are arising from the deepening climate and extinction crises, and there is an appetite, post-Covid, to address these issues and reconnect people with wild nature.

This post will support the Trust in analysing, catalysing and coordinating joined up approaches to nature recovery in Northumberland, particularly in the north and west of the county, where large-scale opportunities exist.

Key in this is working creatively with partners including farmers, estates and landowners, as well as on the Trust's own land, to develop area wide nature recovery networks.

The post will respond to calls from land managers for support and guidance on ‘wilding' and connecting wild spaces. It will also assist in the consultation and development of projects providing opportunities for species reintroduction and augmentation as appropriate.

It will also promote the concept of ‘wilder everywhere' and work to demonstrate and develop this in local communities, sharing best practice and involving people in local wilding action.

These roles are for 35 hours a week, and are offered initially on 3 year contract.

The salary starts at £22,500 to 25,300 per annum.

The deadline for applications is 9am, 10 January 2022.

An application form and full job pack can be found on our website www.nwt.org.uk. Please complete the form in full and return to Paula Turner (HR and Payroll Officer) by email to paula.turner@northwt.org.uk or to Northumberland Wildlife Trust, St Nicholas Park, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 3XT.

Closing Date: 10/01/2022  Location: Gosforth
