We have a rare opportunity to join our Farm Conservation team at an exciting time for the National Park.
We are the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, an organisation that protects, enhances and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales. Set against expansive heather moorland tops, each valley has its own distinct charm, from crags and pavements to an underground labyrinth of caves.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking and pragmatic individual to join us as our Land Management Adviser. The role is full time (37 hours per week), based at our office in Bainbridge and is fixed term until 29/03/2024.
Combining the work of the farm conservation and trees and woodlands teams you will be involved in supporting farmers and landowners and encourage the take-up of national agri-environment and wider rural development schemes.
Taking advantage of your experience in formulating and delivering agri-environment scheme applications, woodland planting and woodland management plans, you will carry out site visits, co-ordinate the preparation of environmental appraisals in order to support grant scheme applications along with assisting in the development of projects and funding bids.
You will have credibility within both farm conservation and trees and woodlands and a proven track record of successfully engaging and working with a range of farmers and landowners.
We’re looking for you to hold a level 5, or above, qualification in a land based subject, with knowledge of upland farm systems and environmental issues.
In addition, you will have the confidence and ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. Attention to detail, working to deadlines and excellent communication skills are equally important to the role.
The role requires regular travel around the National Park so a driving licence is essential.
Our recruitment process treats all job applications equally, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or any other equality characteristic. That said, we particularly encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, as this group are currently under-represented throughout the Authority.
