We are looking for a Marine Policy Officer to join RSPB Scotland’s expert Policy & Advocacy team, working to secure the legal and policy frameworks needed to drive nature's recovery in Scotland and beyond!

Location: Flexible in Scotland - The role could be based anywhere within Scotland but travel to Edinburgh and to other locations across Scotland and the UK will frequently be required
Salary: £30,940.00 - £33,215.00 Per Annum
Benefits: Pension, Life Assurance and Annual Leave

This is a Permanent role for 37.5 hours per week.

Steep declines in seabird populations are a clear signal that urgent action is needed to protect and recover Scotland’s coasts and seas.

We are looking for a passionate conservationist, with excellent topic knowledge and ability to analyse complex issues in a fast paced environment.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, or experience relevant to the role.
  • Able to analyse complex issues in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to negotiate with and influence others.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills e.g. professional, persuasive, engaging.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Able to prioritise effectively.
  • Able to manage projects effectively.
  • An understanding of environment/biodiversity policy, in particular the policy area relevant to the role.
  • Working understanding of Scottish/UK/EU/global institutions where relevant the role.

Desirable skills, knowledge and

  • Educated to post graduate degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • An understanding of the role of public facing communications/campaigns in supporting policy advocacy.
  • Experience of operating in a policy and/or advocacy role.
