Trainee Operations Officer

Hours: 35 hours

Salary: Starting salary £29,063

This role is one of a number of exciting opportunities NatureScot has been offering in our Programme for Youth Employment. The programme sets out our ambitions for expanding our contribution to increasing youth employment in the rural skills sector and to develop nature based skills for the future.

This is a development role aimed at those in the early stages of their careers. It offers an excellent opportunity to work in one of our Area Operations Teams for approx. 6 months.

The successful individual will carry out a variety of work and gain experience of a range of key disciplines in NatureScot’s work across our Area teams. A learning programme will be developed and agreed with the successful postholder, taking into account their skills, experience and development aspirations, and the duration of the post.

The focus will be on the job learning to develop skills and knowledge and is likely to include:

• Protected Areas work including site monitoring and management.
• Statutory casework advising consulting authorities on implications of proposals for areas protected for nature
• Helping to develop one or more projects to enhance biodiversity
• Management work on our National Nature Reserves
