Essex Ecology Services Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Essex Wildlife Trust. Based on the Blackwater Estuary in Essex, we are a reputable ecological consultancy with a diverse range of portfolios from clients in both Essex and further afield.
Essex Ecology Services provide expert advice and technical support to our clients, making sure the projects we are involved with lead others by example, while inspiring and educating people and organisations on the delivery of sustainable development.
Our portfolio of services including ecology surveys, habitat creation, Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessments, invasive plant surveys, botanical surveys, BREEAM, farm surveys, ecological clerk of works and conservation management planning. Protected species surveys include Bats, Great Crested Newts, Reptiles, Badgers, Barn Owls, Water Voles, Otters, Dormice and White-clawed Crayfish.
Working closely with the Principal Ecologist, the post holder will develop and expand our ecology consultancy practice through ecological surveys and producing reports for a variety of commercial clients, including utility companies, developers and local authorities. The successful person will be an analytically minded ecologist who is able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders when supporting with defining the project scope and technical approaches, analysing and interpreting complex data (at times for non-technical audiences), conducting natural resource surveys and providing cost estimates.
It is essential that applicants hold a relevant degree qualification and have prior experience within a similar role, together with a working knowledge of current and emerging legislation and policy in respect to ecological and biodiversity issues, EIA and/or EcIA impact assessments, flora, fauna and species survey methodologies and habitat assessments together with technical report writing skills, experience with GIS and fieldwork skills, including identification skills for a range of species. This role is a permanent full-time position with a starting salary of £26,475.12 per annum. Essex Wildlife Trust is currently trialling hybrid-working, further details will be shared at interview. The role requires a valid full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
