Conservation Project Officer

Based in Reading
35 hours per week, include weekend and evening work.

Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects and outdoor places.

About the role:

Based at the TCV office in Reading this exciting role supports TCV in enabling people and communities in Reading, to improve their health, prospects and outdoor places.

The post holder’s role will include:

  • Delivery of the Earley Charity funded Reading Green Action Project.
  • Leading the Reading Bio-diversity Action Team and ensure participants receive an excellent volunteering experience.
  • Build upon more than 12 years of partnership work with the Earley Charity, local authority partners and other local third sector organisations.
  • Developing and planning weekly practical project work through liaising with partners and land managers.
  • Marketing to enable success and significantly raise our profile in the vicinity.
  • Recruiting and developing Volunteer Officers to support the project.
  • Supporting the Operations Leader in delivering TCV’s Strategic Plan including business development and fundraising.

Experience required:

  • Co-ordinating volunteers.
  • Planning and leading practical conservation projects.
  • Working with partner organisations to deliver community projects.
  • Working with community groups.
  • Running educational sessions.
  • Knowledge of practical conservation, countryside management and horticultural skills.
  • Community development experience.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with people with varying abilities and levels of influence.

The successful candidate will also be a strong team player with personal qualities of resourcefulness and flexibility, bringing creativity and innovation to the team.

The post holder will work as part of The Conservation Volunteers team which runs the TCV Reading office and delivers outreach work across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Southern Oxfordshire. We are a small team of staff & volunteers, supporting each other on all areas of work.

A full manual driving licence is required as the post holder will have to drive one of the Reading office’s fleet of vans.
