Hopetoun House, South Queensferry

Hopetoun House is one of Scotland’s finest Stately Homes and has been home to the Hope family since 1699. The House and Formal Grounds are managed by the Trustees of The Hopetoun House Preservation Trust, an independent charitable trust formed in 1974 with three main objectives of Conservation, Education and Access.
An outgoing, energetic and motivated person is required to support our Permanent Ranger for the 2021 season. Covid-19 restrictions dependent, the successful candidate will support the Permanent Ranger in all aspects of work including but not limited to; developing and delivering a variety of ranger-led guided walks and activities, educational workshops and large-scale public events. Duties also include undertaking general grounds care tasks, patrolling and welcoming visitors, conducting biological monitoring including data handling, leading volunteers, and developing and delivering activities for youth groups. Areas that will be particularly useful to have experience in are car parking for large scale events, and cash-handling/till experience for covering Admissions team lunch breaks at the ticket kiosk.
Applicants should enjoy working with the public and children, working outdoors and have a qualification (minimum SCQF level 7) in Countryside Management or relevant area and a minimum of 6 months relevant work experience, or a minimum of 12 months relevant work experience and training. They should also hold a current, full driving licence.
The successful candidate will work 30 hours over 5 days which will include a high degree of weekend work. Funded by Nature.Scot, the rate of pay will be £8.72 per hour from 29th March rising to £8.91 from 1st April.
