Do you want to help improve countryside access in East Sussex? Do you want to lead a maintenance team ensuring safe access over the county’s 2,000-mile path network?
If you do, then please consider this role within the Rights of Way & Countryside Team.
This county-wide role carries out maintenance work through the management of a dedicated bridge replacement and surfacing programme. Along with our other Principal Officer, it shares the management of our team of maintenance rangers and the associated health and safety procedures.
If successful, you will be involved with bids for capital funding, the recruitment of staff and close working with the wider Rights of Way & Countryside Team.
Contract and budget management is a significant aspect of the role. You will need to be an excellent communicator and should be experienced in producing formal reports and documents.
This role will require independent travel around East Sussex to remote locations in all weathers. You will be dealing with a wide range of people, often resolving competing interests.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post, but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
