Reserves Officer (West Berkshire)

Salary: £25,000 - £25,500 per annum
Based at: Greenham Common, Newbury and covering sites across West Berkshire
Contract: Permanent (35 hours per week)

West Berkshire is rich in wildlife with a wide range of habitats including lowland heathland, ancient woodland, reedbeds and species-rich grasslands. The sites include Greenham Common, the largest area of lowland heath in Berkshire is home to rare species including nightjars, Dartford warblers and adders.

You will be able to demonstrate experience in practical estate and conservation management across a range of habitats. Our nature reserves in Berkshire are diverse - from lowland heathland to chalk grassland, species-rich meadows, wetland and woodland.

You should be equipped with broad experience of managing and transporting livestock and ensuring their welfare. Excellent communication skills are vital both for relationships within the team and for effective management of our enthusiastic team of volunteers.

A good understanding of British wildlife, ecology and the principles of conservation management is essential in this role as is an understanding of the relevant health and safety requirements. We strive to provide high quality habitat for our wildlife and ensure that our visitors engage with the natural world in a safe environment.

The Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust is a membership-based voluntary organisation, managing over 80 nature reserves, influencing land management and educating and encouraging all sectors of the community to care for local wildlife.
