Arboricultural Officer

Salary: Starting salary up to £41,394 per annum (pay award pending), plus essential user car allowance and relocation package of up to £8k

Location: Based at King’s Court Council Offices, King’s Lynn

If you are a qualified, experienced and professional arboriculturist we may have the perfect opportunity for you to join our Planning team at King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council. You will be working in our large borough with its unique environment and heritage and diverse landscapes from Coast to Fens and Brecks and with the council offices based in King’s Lynn, a medieval town and port with an outstanding conservation area.

You will be responsible for providing a specialist arboricultural service, promoting the preservation, protection and good management of trees, processing protected tree applications, providing expert advice/guidance on issues relating to trees including to planners on developments and monitoring compliance on decisions and conditions relating to trees. You will also be required to assist with enforcement investigations.

You must be able to identify trees likely to be found in the borough, and any suitable alternative species as well as have the ability to assess damage to and the health and safety of trees. You will also be aware of legislation and practice relating to Tree Preservation Orders, trees within Conservation Areas, and trees on development sites.
