Projects Officer - Land Management

Location: Hertford

Salary Range: £23,080 progressing to £30,451 pa dependent on skills and experience, with opportunity for progression

Hours: 37 per week

Contract: Permanent

Job Duties:

We are looking for an individual keen to take the next step in their career and join our growing land management advisory team. You will be involved in everything from identifying opportunities, selling ideas and writing plans to securing funds and delivering environmental improvements.

Our ambitious Sustainable Hertfordshire Strategy has committed the authority to improving biodiversity across the county by 20% by 2050, starting with our own land by 2030. This is your opportunity to join our Countryside & Rights of Way Service, playing a vital role in making these challenging targets a reality.

About you:

  • A full current driving licence is essential
  • Demonstrable track record in the areas of countryside management, greenspace development or delivery of green infrastructure
  • Responsibilities include:
  • Providing a professional advisory service to a range of land managers
  • Writing management plans and proposals for ecological improvements
  • Securing funds from external providers
  • Producing specifications, procuring works and managing delivery through contractors
  • Working collaboratively with our Access and Communities Teams to support a diverse portfolio of activity

About us:

We work in partnership with private landowners, communities and other local authorities to develop projects that enhance the environment for people and wildlife at a landscape scale and to manage our access network. Our current project portfolio includes a considerable range of work across a number of key sites and habitats including woodland management at a range of scales, heathland restoration in Hertfordshire’s only NNR, chalk river restoration and developing old railway lines as non-motorised transport routes.
