Nature Ranger

‘How to be a Young North East Naturalist’ Nature Rangers

Can you engage and inspire children about nature?

We need two friendly and enthusiastic Nature Rangers who can inspire children to discover nature. Knowledge of wildlife is a bonus, but your approach with children is more important.

Local children need help to discover nature, and teachers need support running activities that develop a child’s confidence through hands-on experiences. You will work with teachers and children to co-create engaging curriculum linked activities.

Working with five local primary schools, you will enthuse children of different abilities and backgrounds, supporting children by building on their individual strengths and interests to develop a passion for natural history.

This project is funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. You’ll join the Natural History Society of Northumbria, a regional charity, inspiring wonder in the natural world from the Tees to the Tweed since 1829.

You will work flexibly from Gosforth Nature Reserve, Newcastle, local schools and home. You will need your own transport.
