We are seeking an Ecologist to join our cause.

As part of the Trust’s Ecology Team, the post plays an essential a role within the Trust’s professional ecological consultancy service, Arcadian Ecology and Consulting Ltd (Arcadian). The aims of Arcadian are to:

  • Generate unrestricted income for the Trust
  • Build the Trust’s professional reputation
  • Develop professional capacity and services offered
  • Work collaboratively with other Trust consultancies through the AWTC

An essential part of this service is delivering ecological survey, monitoring and research work, to ensure conservation decision-making is based on sound evidence. This role therefore requires a specialism in field-based terrestrial ecology.

  • At least 3 years’ experience of a broad range of field survey in a similar role
  • Experience and knowledge of project conception, tendering, management and delivery.
  • Experience of writing concise and clear reports to tight deadlines
  • Good general species and habitat knowledge
  • Educated to a higher level degree in a conservation based subject
  • In-depth knowledge of wildlife legislation and protected species issues
  • Enthusiastic, confident and clear communicator
  • Self-motivated and decisive, able to work on own initiative
