We are looking for an experienced individual with a passion for conservation, engagement and access management to be our Area Ranger for the High Peak portfolio.

What it’s like to work here

As a countryside property, the National Trust in the Peak District is at the forefront of conservation – managing its land to the highest international standards for conservation, access and wider public benefits.

The High Peak property is the largest landholding within the portfolio. With over 11,000 ha of land designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, comprising largely moorland and woodland habitats – incorporating iconic places such as Kinder Scout.

Working to conservation management plans, you’ll build and manage effective and flexible seasonal work programmes for you and your volunteers. You’ll support your fellow rangers in undertaking engagement, maintenance and conservation work, contributing towards Land Management and Nature Conservation targets. With your team you’ll monitor compliance in support of multiple stewardship agreements.

You’ll develop and deliver small projects with assigned funding and will plan for the effective use of volunteers to increase our capacity, working safely and effectively.

You will be required to work some weekends, bank holiday and evenings.
