Forestry Commission (or Forest Services) are the Governments forestry experts. We advise nationally and locally on how to unlock the full potential of woodlands and the forestry sector to protect, improve and expand England’s valuable woodland assets. We work with other government departments, non-government organisations and the private sector; in recognition that good collaboration can deliver more than the sum of the partners.
We are currently looking for 3 Woodland Officers; the first post will cover an area loosely based around the Cotswolds, the second, north Wilts and Bath and North East Somerset. The third post is yet to be decided but will be based in the southern part of the area.
Our work involves engagement with a wide range of people and organisations, from small landowners and wood businesses through to large corporations and other public bodies.
The Area Field Team of 21 is led by the Area Director and operates from the Area Office at Bullers Hill, Haldon Forest Park, Kennford, near Exeter.
The successful candidate will hold a forestry qualification or have demonstrated clear evidence of experience and understanding of forestry operations and technical expertise as well as working with a range of partners. In addition they will be expected to show strengths such as being adaptable, a problem solver, focussed and organised.
In return, we offer an attractive salary and benefits package including generous annual leave and a government pension scheme. We also provide a range of training and learning opportunities to help you develop your skills.
