£34,000 - £37,000 pending experience

Full Time, 35 hours per week

Job Purpose:

Lead on the development and implementation of the Trust’s Grazing Strategy by prioritising grazing and natural processes as a management tool on the land of the Trust and third parties. Diversifying funding and developing better ways to manage our grassland sites will increase the grazing function and sustainability of its management to bring wildlife back.

Key Responsibilities:

Grazing Development

  • Deliver a sustainable grazing programme across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull, making effective use of resources and partnerships.
  • Coordinate grazing activities and natural process-led herbivore management across multiple sites.
  • Manage day-to-day operations on selected grassland nature reserves, working closely with the reserves team.
  • Oversee contractors delivering vegetation management and habitat works.
  • Develop income-generating opportunities through grazing, land management services, grants, agri-environment schemes and product sales.
  • Manage project budgets, reporting requirements and funding opportunities.
  • Recruit, manage and develop staff and volunteers, including livestock-checking volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with livestock legislation, biosecurity, animal welfare and health and safety requirements, including out-of-hours responsibilities.

External relationships and communications

  • Build strong relationships with landowners, communities, partner organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Support communications and promotional activities, including events, interpretation and media engagement.
  • Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers to support grazing and habitat management.
  • Maintain positive relationships with neighbouring landowners and site users, addressing issues that could impact reserves or conflict with Trust policies.
  • Encourage community involvement in reserve management through consultation and engagement activities.

General Responsibilities

  • Promote the Trust's mission, vision and 2030 Strategy in all aspects of the role.
  • Support membership recruitment, fundraising and public engagement where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to deliver organisational objectives.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain high professional standards.
  • Undertake training and continuous professional development.
  • Comply with all Trust policies, including health and safety, equality, legal and contractual obligations.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role, as requested by the CEO.
