We work to support the rural economy and enhance Scotland’s natural environment, by increasing the number and diversity of skilled employees in Scotland’s land-based and aquaculture sectors.

Job Goal: To support the Scottish work plan by working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders, on projects to help ensure the land based and aquaculture sector has access to the appropriate skills development opportunities to improve sustainability and to help mitigate climate change.

The Role

  • Responsible for ensuring Scotland’s land-based and aquaculture sectors have access to the means to improve sustainable practices and mitigate climate change.
  • Engaging with stakeholders and industry partners to facilitate positive, collaborative partnerships in support of Scottish work plan delivery.
  • Assisting in the development of a range of climate management skills initiatives and training products across the sectors, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensure Lantra’s related standards, frameworks and qualifications work is current and informed by best sustainability practice.
  • Monitor and report on technological advances and other developments within sustainability and climate change matters within the sector.

About You:

  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of sustainability issues relating to the land based and aquaculture sector in Scotland.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a record of establishing excellent working relationships with industry stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, including effective time management, attention to detail and multitasking.
  • Experience in analysing, interpreting, managing and presenting quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Experience of effective communication, including presentations and reporting.
  • Experience of managing a diverse range of contacts and groups effectively.
  • Experience of working within the sector or for a related organisation.
  • Higher education qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., sustainability, climate change, geography, environmental management or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • IT proficiency.


  • Awareness of key organisations and potentially relevant education and skills initiatives, policies and strategies
  • Understanding of the requirements of a range of training and education initiatives Project management experience/training
