Worcestershire Wildlife Trust

Natural Networks Officer

Starting salary £24,000

Do you want to help us create and restore wildlife-rich habitats in Worcestershire? As part of our ambitious Natural Networks partnership we are looking for someone with the skills to deliver habitat surveys and management advice as well as to build links with partner organisations, community groups and key stakeholders. We’ve already enhanced around 40ha of habitat for wildlife and given positive land management advice to bodies managing more than 1000ha. With over £1m secured for Natural Networks sites you’ll be in prime position to help steer projects that deliver wildlife enhancements for the county.

Natural Networks is an established, and recently extended, Worcestershire-wide five-year European Rural Development Fund (ERDF) funded partnership between Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and Worcestershire County Council. The project aims to deliver direct habitat improvements in the county and offers grants to landowners, organisations and communities wishing to enhance their land for wildlife.

You will be working closely with partners and applicants using your expertise to help deliver new and improved habitat across Worcestershire. You will collect baseline ecological information, provide management recommendations for habitat enhancements and help to guide applicants through the delivery of their projects.

This is a varied role and will require you to work on a diverse range of projects from churchyards to wetland creation. You’ll have relevant qualifications and experience in land management, ecological survey and project management, excellent communication skills, an enthusiasm for wildlife and a capacity to work to challenging deadlines. The post requires a full driving licence. It is full time and will run until the end of June 2023. This post is 50% funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
