BCP Council are recruiting in to a number of Countryside roles and the latest of these are Grazing Ranger and a Ranger to be responsible for our Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) sites, both working closely and collaboratively within our Countryside teams.
Focussing on mitigating pressures against our highly designated Heathland sites, the SANG’s provide quality green space in a natural setting where we manage them for the public and wildlife. As a Ranger you will build up relationships with the SANG users, stakeholders, partners and monitor and record user behaviour, ensure the sites are being used appropriately, encourage interaction and safe use of the spaces.
The Grazing Ranger is to coordinate the conservation grazing management of our Countryside sites. You need to be a practical, hands-on person who can ensure we have the highest standards of animal husbandry across our diverse range of countryside sites. We currently have goats, sheep, ponies and various breeds of cows managing our heathland and cliff SSSI's and Nature Reserves.
Set in stunning locations along the River Stour, on our urban heaths, seafront, cliffs and at Hengistbury Head, these roles will reward you and put you at the centre of the Countryside Team in terms of facilitation and support; and making a difference for our wildlife.
