To meet the statutory obligations of the Council regarding legal and technical matters associated with Public Rights of Way (PROW), through the processing of Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO) applications, and to support other functions of the team to ensure the availability for public use of the statutory PROW network, other path networks and access land.

Due to expansion of the PROW team, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Definitive Map Officer. Based in Municipal Buildings, Crewe, you will be responsible for processing Definitive Map Modification Order applications across the Borough, from receipt of application, through research, Committee decision, to Order making and public inquiry, as required.

The role requires a mix of office work, with flexible remote working, and independent fieldwork. You’ll be liaising with elected Members, consultants, applicants, witnesses, landowners, and agents. You’ll have responsibility for budgetary tasks and updating the Definitive Map and Statement and also undertake other legal PROW processes such as temporary closures, public path orders, and respond to general enquiries from the public and colleagues.
