Buckinghamshire Council has an exciting opportunity for an Ecology Officer to join our Environment Team.
We are a busy, professional and friendly team made up of qualified Ecologists, Archaeologists and Heritage Officers. Together we work to protect, promote and manage the unique natural and historic environment of the county. We maintain the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Environmental Record Centre (BMERC) and Historic Environment Record (HER); providing access to the most up to date environmental data across the whole County. Buckinghamshire is currently experiencing a huge amount of growth. Working with us will give you the chance to work on major infrastructure projects and large or small-scale developments.
Within this Team you will provide ecological advice relating to the management, protection and enhancement of important habitats and species within the County, with a particular focus on the Chiltern and South Bucks area.
You will provide authoritative ecological advice, guidance, supporting colleagues, customers and stakeholders. Dealing with planning consultations, represent the authority at planning appeals. You will also have a strategic role in helping the development of local plans, green infrastructure, biodiversity accounting, and other County-wide policies.
You will report to The Environment Team Leader, providing expert advice on the impact of development projects, and recommend appropriate mitigation and compensation measures.
