Norfolk Rivers Trust is looking for an Assistant Project Officer assistant to support the delivery of a series of ambitious river restoration projects throughout Norfolk. This will be an exciting and varied role, where the successful applicant will gain experience across a range of areas including water quality testing, protected species surveys, designing, and delivering restoration projects and working with contractors on construction sites.

One of the successful applicant’s main responsibilities will be to undertake water quality testing throughout North Norfolk to find and highlight pollution pathways within the catchments with a focus on point sources such as septic tanks and diffuse pollution. The results from these surveys will then be mapped and we will use this information to plan interventions including treatment wetlands and targeted public engagement.

The other key role of the successful applicant will be to assist surveyors as a plus ones on protected species surveys. The majority of these surveys will be water vole and otter surveys but there will also be opportunities to take part in white-clawed crayfish surveys, aquatic invertebrate surveys, botanical surveys and fish surveys.

We are looking for someone with a passion for rivers and nature, the ability to work closely within a team or independently, and the drive to help us deliver a series of challenging, exciting restoration projects.
