WSP has a large, highly experienced and friendly Ecology and Arboriculture team who get involved with a diverse range of interesting projects across a number of sectors within the UK for both private and public sector clients. In addition to working on UK projects, there are also opportunities to work internationally if desired. The team pride themselves on the integrated support offered by working alongside our in-house water, landscape and sustainability specialists to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.

We are looking to appoint two Consultant Grade Arboriculture Consultants, one in our Exeter office and one in either Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds office (other locations may also be considered) to support our growing workload.

A typical week would include:

  • Planning and undertaking arboriculture survey tasks including preparation of risk assessment for site work, desk studies, BS5837:2012 and tree hazard assessment;
  • Input into a range of arboriculture deliverables including; arboriculture method statements, impact assessments, mitigation planning and environmental impact assessment supporting documents
  • Working with other teams in various disciplines and in different parts of the country; and
  • Client liaison and project management.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • An appropriate academic qualification in arboriculture and have experience of undertaking surveys;
  • Have previous experience as an arboriculture consultant and / or as a local authority tree officer or similar;
  • Experience in undertaking arboriculture surveys using digital data capture;
  • Experience in inputting to and producing high quality technical arboriculture reports in support of planning applications;
  • The ability to work in a pragmatic team of arboriculture, landscape and environmental professionals;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and arboricultural survey methodologies; and
  • A desire to develop your core arboriculture and consultancy skills
