Various Locations across Perth and Kinross
Fixed term posts (until 31 October 2021) have become available for a number of Visitor Rangers to support the delivery of multi-agency Perth and Kinross Visitor Management operation to Engage, Explain, Encourage and Enforce in rural areas, to promote a safe, enjoyable and responsible visit to Perth and Kinross. You will work with and support local communities impacted by additional visitors and implement initiatives which promote an understanding of the rural areas and positive and responsible behaviours. This will require engagement with and education of visitors in particular by providing on site responsible access advice and guidance which may require diplomacy, decisiveness and enforcement. Working as part of a wider Greenspace Ranger Service within the Community Greenspace team, the post holder will provide a high quality experience and an inspiring front line service for the local authority to visitors and residents. Relevant training, uniform and liveried vehicle will be provided.
Successful candidates will have experience of working with the public in a customer focussed role and interest in and enthusiasm for working outdoors. They will be customer orientated, have an interest in visitor management issues and be assertive with strong negotiation and persuasive skills. They must be able to communicate effectively and politely with all stakeholders and users and be flexible, resourceful and able to solve problems. They will have the ability to work alone, without supervision, along with excellent team and partnership working skills. They must be literate, numerate, have good ICT skills and a full UK driving licence or the right to drive in the UK. A flexible approach to working hours is needed as regular evening and weekend working will be required and an ability to cope with the physical and emotional demands of the post together with an ability to work outdoors in all weathers.
