Ryton Pools Country Park is a 100 acre country park and is great to explore.  There are many different habitats that are home to a wide range of birds and other wildlife. The excellent surfaced paths enable easy walking around the site, and provide access to adjoining ancient woodland Ryton Wood, the two new Play Areas and Pirate Trail.

As our Assistant Ranger you'll be working weekends in all weathers.  Using the works vehicles you'll be travelling across the Park helping to promote and assist visitors' enjoyment of the countryside. Ensuring the Park and facilities are clean and tidy; assisting with parking and taking payments, you'll also contribute to public events and education; manage volunteers and provide information and advice.  Working within a team and on your own initiative in all weathers you may be required to work at other sites and sometimes work additional hours as the need arises.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

To be successful in this role you'll need strong customer care and communication skills as you'll be managing a variety of relationships. It's essential that you want to work weekends and bank holidays and equally important you have the ability to work independently using your initiative as well as within a team and in all weathers.  You'll need knowledge of conservation, recreation and countryside issues as well as previous experience of working or volunteering in a leisure or countryside environment where you will have developed practical countryside skills.
