Working in some of the nation’s most stunning places and spaces, come rain or shine, your love of the outdoors will inspire others as you strive to ensure that landscapes are beautifully presented and continue to take our visitors’ breath away.

 

We are looking for someone with a Boatmasters licence who has experience of working on an inshore tidal range of operation. You will need to be confortable helming a 9.75 m vessel that can carry 37 passengers and small quantities of cargo.

 

Accommodation is provided to the post holder for the proper or better performance of his or her duties in accordance with Trust criteria and HMRC rules.

What you'll be doing

 

With your endless passion for our work, you’ll help with the protection and care of habitats, wildlife, property and machinery, and your passion will inspire other to love this beautiful place as much as you do. We want you to engage with visitors, making time to talk to them, not rushing away to the next task. As an easily identifiable member of the Ranger team, on your best day you will be creating lasting memories for everyone.

 

You'll be part of the property team responsible for the day to day management of the National Trust’s outdoor places on Brownsea Island. You will assist in enabling everyone to feel welcome and to have outstanding and inspirational experiences of our conservation work. You'll help provide a safe and efficient boat service for Brownsea Island by being part of a broader team of countryside staff on the property delivering great service to visitors and carrying out practical countryside management work. Working with and support the Lead Ranger in other aspects of countryside management, assist in achieving compliance with all relevant legislation and work as a member of the wider Brownsea Island staff team as directed.

You’ll need;

  • To be able to deliver practical conservation work to protect and enhance the conservation status of the property
  • Boatmasters Licence
  • To be able to engage with visitors to ensure they understand the value of your work
  • To be an excellent team player
  • To be able to work safely, with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures
  • Experience in a land, access and conservation management
  • Experience in and working in a similar outdoor setting
  • Competence with machinery and equipment as well as having the relevant certificates required
  • A full UK driving licence
