Role Purpose

This post will provide specialist health and wellbeing advice to develop and implement policy, programmes, plans, strategies and guidance, specifically in relation to health and natural resources. The post will lead on a variety of health projects, including the development of health impact assessment policy and practice, to support the sustainable management of natural resources and the multiple benefits that can be gained, specifically in relation to human health. The post holder will work with other members of the Health, Education and Natural Resources Team, liaise with relevant operational staff and engage directly with stakeholders.


Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree level qualification in a relevant subject area or the equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Substantial experience of working in the area of health and wellbeing improvement with knowledge of how natural resources impact on health. You will have specialist/technical knowledge in a range of health improvement areas.
  • Extensive experience of technical analysis and interpreting a range of complex health improvement and environmental information and data to guide others. 
  • A sound understanding and appreciation of the work and knowledge of: Welsh, UK and EU legislation related to health & wellbeing; Welsh, UK Government policy drivers in health & wellbeing and environment, and the issues and opportunities in Wales.
  • Working in a programme and project management environment with extensive Project Management experience and/or qualifications.  Able to manage workload and prioritise tasks in relation to conflicting objectives and targets.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills including well developed customer facing skills.  Competence in a range of IT software, including Excel, Word and Geographic Information Systems.
  • Good inter-personal and influencing skills and able to develop and sustain good working relationships and networks.  Experience of working with/in health boards, Public Health Wales, Local Authorities, eNGOs.
