Could you develop and manage a team delivering a complex and challenging reserve management plan and a high-quality visitor offer? Lake Vyrnwy is in the development stage of a ca 7million National Lottery Heritage Fund Lake Vyrnwy Experience Project, delivered in partnership with many stakeholders.

Lake Vyrnwy is a landscape of over 10,000 hectares encompassing a wide variety of habitats. Moorland, the quintessentially Welsh ffridd, forestry and Western Atlantic Woodland, lowland farmland, hay meadows, and of course the reservoir.

Most of the site is designated SSSI, SAC and SPA. Its high-quality upland habitats are home to key populations of priority and iconic upland species - including hen harrier, merlin, black grouse and curlew. There are important assemblages in the Atlantic Woodland and the young forestry including pied flycatcher, wood warbler, and willow tit. The ffridd is home to the rare Welsh Clearwing moth. The Site Manager will be key in ensuring these species continue to thrive.

The whole catchment is owned by Hafren Dyfrdwy and the RSPB has a variety of tenure and rights. The largest part being RSPB's farm business tenancy over 4,500 hectares established as the largest organic farm in England and Wales. The Site Manager and team of wardens work closely with the Farm Manager to integrate conservation with farming needs.

The onsite shop and events programme are part of the community of businesses giving visitors a high-quality experience. RSPB front the Vyrnwy 'meet and greet' operation, ensuring that visitors are orientated and introduced to all that is available.
